About the garden

The 911±¬ÁÏ Cut Flower Garden represents the essence of garden designer Carien van Boxtel’s working garden during the pandemic. Maximum space is allocated to growing flowers. There’s a small greenhouse for nurturing seeds and a shed for tools. There’s even a little studio space carved out in which to photograph beautiful blooms and hand-tied bouquets and post the images on social media to encourage others to try their hand at growing flowers and creating floral displays.

The garden takes inspiration from the Dutch flower fields with their repetitive ribbons of colourful blooms. The straight and practical lines of lush, colourful flowers form a pleasing image, with each flower cultivar offering different sizes and shapes. Together the lines form an organised library of living flowers to make life as a part-time flower farmer and arranger much easier. With clever planning, it’s possible to create a succession of cut flowers from January until December.
