This adult beginners walk & talk is aimed at providing anyone with an interest in the fungal kingdom the skills required to feel confident to understand and identify fungi in a friendly and accessible way.
Led by tutor Ali McKernan (aka The FUNgi Guy) who is known nationally for his infectious enthusiasm and unique and accessible teaching style for all things fungi.
Understanding habitats, ecology, fungal roles, ID skills and much more will be explored as we make our way through the beautiful grounds of 911±¬ÁÏ Garden Bridgewater.
We’ll hope to familiarise ourselves with a wide variety of species in a relaxing learning environment to improve your identification skills and become more familiar with some of the amazing fungi that shape our landscape.
Tutor: Ali McKernan – The FUNgi Guy has been delivering fungal workshops, presentations, online tutoring and guided walks for over 7 years. He is a fungi tutor for the Field Studies Council and continues to fulfil the role of Outreach and Education for both the British Mycological Society and North West Fungus Groups committees.
Location and Arrival Information: The walk & talk will begin in the Welcome Building for an initial briefing and then in the gardens.

For this workshop you will need:
- Walking Shoes & Waterproof clothing
- Notepad and pencil
- A good camera (a phone camera will be fine)
